i haven't done that before. thanks for joining us everybody. jon: "america live" starts right now. megyn: hi, everybody, i'm megyn kelly. we begin with a fox news weather alert, big developments on the path of earl. the cat 4 storm making its last part of its approach to the east coast. it is bigger than the state of california. there are watches and warnings in effect for this moment in north carolina to the most eastern part of massachusetts. that means the storm is threatening more than 1100 miles of the east coast and 32 million people. but the big story this hour, a new forecast has ramped up concerns for new england. 19 years ago hurricane bob did serious damage to new england as a category 2 storm. the national hurricane center now says earl may pull a repeat performance. meteorologist janice dean has the breaking news live from the fox weather center. this is new? >> reporter: it is, and it could affect a lot more people as you mentioned, megyn, that is an incredible number. tropical force winds can knockout power to thousands of people. hurricane force winds almost a hund

of this. we have to cutback. thank you for joining us everybody. jon: "america live" starts right now. megyn: breaking news on hurricane earl. the category 3 storm is now less than 800 miles from north carolina's coastline. forecasters this hour predicting earl will bring extremely high waves, high surf and rip currents to much of the east coast. expecting new track and strength information from the national hurricane center in less than an hour. right now a hurricane warning is up for parts of north carolina. to give you perspective on how big this storm is check out this picture of earl from outer space. taken by an astronaut on the international space station. look at that, you can see the eye in the center there. that is just stunning. i've team coverage starting with the current conditions from our tp-bgs meteorologist. >> reporter: we have three storms we are watching. there is earl, there is fiona that is bringing winds around 60 miles an hour back to the leeward islands again and that right there potentially becoming gaston later on in the day. that could have impact again for

that is getting a lot of attention today for anybody who has ever been on an airplane. a u.s. pilot busted, u.s. pilot busted for showing up to work drunk. it's not like he just had to fill out paperwork that day either. he got behind the wheel. the incident taking place yesterday moments before a delta flight was supposed to leave from amsterdam to new jersey. international flight, pilot is drunk. now we're learning this guy pwo have been fine to fly if he had been taking off from new jersey for amsterdam. why is that? trace gallagher is live in our west coast newsroom. trace. >> reporter: can you imagine, megyn being the pilot of this 767, you're in amsterdam, you're taxing toward the runway, you look in your rear view mirror and the cops are pulling you over? that's what happened. the cops got an anonymous message that this guy was drinking, they pulled him over. the pilot has not been identified. he was flying a 767 like the one you see here. this is not the exact one. the pilot is 52 years old from woodbury, new jersey that's all we know. 196 passengers on board. the dutch pilot, or dutch
